How to buy and save huge amounts on each week on your grocery bill! And this is without coupons or loyalty cards so the savings can definitely be higher!

Buy Bulk!

Chicken:

I buy 10lb packages of large breasts and I half and repackage them at home.

( my local grocery store a pack of chicken breasts averaging around 3 lbs is around $10+, I can get 10 lbs bulk for around $15...literally cutting my price by half!)

Pork:

I buy the large pork loins (10lb) and slice into pork chops. It takes minutes and I get the thick slices that we like at a fraction of the cost!

The thick slice chops that I like are cost about $7 for 2 chops, by getting a 10 lb loin for around $22, I can get 16+ thick chops... savings of $34!

Beef: Again, I buy large amounts and weight out per lb and package for later. The price per pound is a lot cheaper when you purchase 10 lbs or more!

Having a good kitchen scale is key to packaging so when it's time to grab from freezer, you are guessing if it's going to be enough for the dish you are making.76

Buy Frozen!

I love fresh produce but fact is I save more and waste less with frozen produce.

I stay away from frozen varieties that are seasoned or include sauces. The tend tend to have a lot more additives that seriously just taste weird to me. I stick with plain jane frozen veggies to make sure i have veggies readily available. And that saves a ton!

Can Food!

I admit, I buy very little canned foods, but i always at least have the basic veggies and beans. Now canned tomatoes, I always keep stocked in. I love tomatoes and pasta and it helps with my sauces and recipes when fresh tomatoes aren't always available.

And even when they are canned tomatoes are usually a huge time saver.

Block Cheese!

Lawd, put that pre-shredded cheese back in the grocery store fridge!

Not only does block cheese have less additives and preservatives, but it's much cheaper. And for recipes, an 8 oz block gives you roughly 16 oz shredded at around half the cost.

It tastes better, and it melts better. And with a quality grater it takes minutes or less to shred a block of cheese.

Real Butter!

Ok, while not cheaper, real butter is much healthier and the quality in any dish is very notable. Leave that margarine at the store and invest in Real Butter!
